Weapon Case and Wall Sword Stand

Last Monday, I picked up in Quiapo Manila the weapon case I ordered to be customize.

First, I want the material to be in genuine leather but the tailor argued that leather is only good when it's newly made. In the long run, it will be wrinkled, tore apart and can no longer be repaired. I know that part since I've usually seen it happened to my leather belts and shoes (even if they are made in genuine leather). He also mentioned that with fabric, it can be easily sew for repair when it is tore. The textile he used is somewhat similar with the material used in some luggages I saw in the mall. I like that he put 2 long pockets outside, an I.D. case on top, a removable hook strap where the hooking part is made of metal, handle in the middle and the plastic part below it (removable by strap if I want to thoroughly open the zipper) that you use when you're standing, don't want to carry the bag anymore and just want it in a standing position. He also put a thin foam sewed inside the fabric as padding. He decided that the foam should be thick but when he didn't like how it will form, he changed his mind to a thin foam.

There's a big stripping pocket at the back of the bag with 2 separated garters on top where I can insert 2 bo/long sticks.:

Inside, I like that I can store many different kinds of weapons.

There you see on top left my Kamagong bokken, my daito and shoto Niten Ichi ryu bokken set, my 2 rattan sticks below them. On the right side, there is my iaito katana on top and 2 bahi sticks below. There is even an additional pocket on the left side of the katana and I can also insert an additional wakizashi (short sword) beside the katana, behind the pocket.

It costs PHP1,500 or US$34.46. I'm very satisfied of the result and I hope this bag will last long. I'm so excited now to practice my kata in a retreat center outside. I just need to buy tabi socks and waraji sandals for that. I just hope I won't go to jail if they see me practicing because of Batas Pambansa Blg. 6 which is the Blade Law here in the Philippines. There is an extension of right in the law that says: "in pursuit of a lawful activity". So since martial art is a lawful activity, I guess I won't go to jail because of it.

Another 1 that I ordered to be customized (Friday last week) is the wall sword stand from Imus, Cavite. I picked it up just this morning.

These are its pattern:

The reason I ordered it as a wall stand is because my house is kinda small and it will be space consuming if it is standing on the floor.

He estimated the price in the picture and told me it is PHP1,500 or US$34 for the 8-tier but I told him it should be 10-tier so he gave me a price of PHP1,700 or US39. He told me he won't immediately make the sword stand and I agreed. In that Friday afternoon, I counted the swords and other weapons that I will put and display in my home and it reached of up to 15. So in the evening, I sent him a text message saying that I decided to make it 15-tier. I returned to their shop to change the receipt and he gave me an amount of PHP2,500 or US$57.37. Not bad considering the good quality of the wood he will use. I really like how he made it. I just hope that the Filipino swords that I'm planning to buy will fit on it.

Here are the list of weapons I decided to put on it:

  1. My iaito katana
  2. An iaito wakizashi I'm planning to order
  3. My Niten Ichi ryu daito white oak bokken
  4. My Niten Ichi ryu shoto white oak bokken
  5. Katori Shinto ryu daito Appalachian hickory I'm planning to order
  6. Katori Shinto ryu shoto Appalachian hickory I'm planning to order
  7. My 2 rattan sticks
  8. My 2 bahi sticks
  9. 2 Hickory eskrima sticks I'm planning to order
10. Kenshin Himura's Sakabato/reversed edge sword I'm planning to order
11. Sasuke Uchiha's Kusanagi sword I'm planning to order
12. Rattan long stick I'm planning to order
13. Bahi long stick I'm planning to order
14. Kampilan sword I'm planning to order
15. Panabas sword I'm planning to order

*I'm planning to sell my kamagong bokken and eskrima sticks as soon as I buy the hickory bokken set and eskrima sticks.

For the mean time, here are the weapons I put on it.:

1.) 2 Bahi sticks
2.) 2 Rattan sticks
3.) 2 Kamagong Sticks
4.) Iaito Katana
5&6.) Niten Ichi ryu white oak bokken set
7.) Kamagong bokken

Now I just need to hammer concrete nails or borrow a driller and put in screws on the wall so I can now hang/mount it on the wall.... which I eventually did.:

The reason I ordered for customization of these products is because if I order them overseas, the price of each item would be a lot more expensive and I have to pay for additional costs for their shipping and handling fee and customs taxes here.
